Our Fire Alarm: Basic Electricity course teaches you basic electrical theory, including Ohm's law, Kirchoff's law, magnetism, energy generation and the dangers of higher AC voltages. This fire alarm course focuses on the Canadian Electrical Code with reference to conductors, cables, grounding of conduit systems and enclosures, wiring methods, conduit and cable installation, protection and control of electrical circuits, disconnecting means, class 1 and 2 circuits and all requirements pertaining to fire alarm systems.

This course is equivalent to the Course 3 - Basic Electricity for the Fire Alarm Technician course offered by the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) as part of the CFAA Fire Alarm Technician training program.

Recommendations

You will have the most success in this course if you have already completed our ELCL 9027 Fire Detection and the Alarm Industry (Online) course and our COMM 1017 Professional Communication (Online) course before you start this course. This is a CFAA recommendation.
