Our General Legal Process and Powers and Duties 2024 course is an overview/refresher course for experienced practitioners. The curriculum reviews key parts of the Building Code Act and Volume 1 of the 2024 Building Code Compendium as well as the provisions of Parts 10 and 11 of the Ontario Building Code (OBC).

This course can help you prepare to write the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) General Legal/Process 2024, Powers and Duties of CBO 2024, Powers and Duties of RCA 2024, and Designer Legal/Process 2024 exams (not included). The MMAH exams are administered by Humber College. For more information, visit the Ontario Building Code Examinations website.

Prerequisites

You must have a general understanding of the building construction process and basic blueprint reading skills.

Recommendations

You will have the most success in this course if you have already completed our BLDG 9256 Parts 10 to 11 Building Renovation and Change of Use course before you start this course.

Course Essentials:

You must bring a copy of the 2024 Building Code Compendium and the General/Legal Process 2024 workbook/manual to the first class. The compendium and workbook/manual are both available for purchase through the George Brown College bookstore and at Building Code and Trade Manuals website. The compendium can also be purchased at the Publications Ontario website.
