Part 9 Buildings Structural Requirements: Independent Study BLDG 9266
Our Part 9 Buildings Structural Requirements course is a detailed technical course. This advanced building code course deals with the structural provisions and limitations of Division B Part 9 of the Ontario Building Code (though it does not deal specifically with the design of structural elements). The curriculum explores legal considerations; soil conditions; excavations, footings, and foundations; transfer of forces acting on a building; masonry construction; trusses; and special separations and exposure protection.

Prerequisites
You must have a general understanding of the building construction process and basic blueprint reading skills.

You must have a copy of the 2012 Building Code Compendium before you begin this course. The compendium is available for purchase through the George Brown College bookstore, at our Building Code and Trade Manuals website, and at the Publications Ontario website.
