This section is intended to answer your frequently asked questions (FAQ) about our LIBA 9110 Editing Clinic course.
How will LIBA 9110 Editing Clinic benefit me?
Our LIBA 9110 Editing Clinic course provides you with hands-on experience in the publishing field and offers you the following benefits:
- affirm the skills you have learned in the classroom and gain confidence to start or advance your editorial career
- broaden your skills and understanding of publishing
- gain concrete work experience completing projects for local non-profits that can be used on your resumé
- receive valuable feedback from a supervisor
When can I start LIBA 9110 Editing Clinic?
Once you have completed our LIBA 9294 Copyediting course, our LIBA 9332 Proofreading course, and our LIBA 9372 Structural and Stylistic Editing course with a grade of C- (60%) or better, you can register in our LIBA 9110 Editing Clinic course.
Can I do LIBA 9110 Editing Clinic and complete the third prerequisite course simultaneously?
No. If you have not completed all three prerequisite courses, you are not effectively prepared for our LIBA 9110 Editing Clinic course because you need to apply what you have learned in our LIBA 9294 Copyediting, LIBA 9332 Proofreading, and LIBA 9372 Structural and Stylistic Editing courses. Any exception to this would be at the discretion of the supervisor and would depend on available space.
Does LIBA 9110 Editing Clinic run all year long (that is, during the fall, winter, and spring/summer terms)?
Our LIBA 9110 Editing Clinic course is one term long (three months) and may be available for registration during all three terms. However, like any Continuing Education course at George Brown College, it only runs if enough students register.
Do I need to register for LIBA 9110 Editing Clinic?
No, this work experience is optional. It is a great way to gain experience and apply what you have learned in class.
