Mandarin Chinese is the most widely spoken language in the world. Learning to speak Mandarin can offer advantages both in your business life (by helping you build business relationships) and in your personal life (by helping you make the most of your travel experiences). Our Mandarin Language Program helps you develop basic listening, speaking and reading skills while enriching your understanding and enjoyment of Chinese culture and traditions.
There are no prerequisites if you choose to start this program with our introductory LANG 9039 Mandarin 1 course. However, if you have previous Chinese language experience and wish to fast-track this program, you must either do a placement interview (so we can determine your Chinese language proficiency and the course most suitable for you to start with) or you must apply for course exemptions (if you have completed the equivalent courses at an accredited post-secondary institution within the last three to five years).
You must complete our LANG 9068 Mandarin 3 course, our LANG 9075 Mandarin 4 course and our LANG 9077 Mandarin 5 course regardless of your placement interview or exemption results. Once you have completed all the requirements of this program with a cumulative grade average of B (73%) or better, you can request to receive a certificate of completion.
