Our Digital Illustration course allows you to explore illustration techniques and concepts using a tablet. With a pressure-sensitive stylus, learn techniques in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop that focus on expanding your creativity and artistic style. Enjoy tutorials and critiques while producing finished images suitable for commercial illustration or a design portfolio.

Recommendations

You will have the most success in this course if you have a basic level of computer literacy and have completed our COMP 9591 Introduction to Adobe Creative Cloud (Online) course before you start this course.

Course Essentials:

You must be able to run the full desktop versions of Illustrator and Photoshop and have a tablet. You can use either a graphic tablet (touchpad and stylus) or a screen tablet (graphic tablet with a built-in monitor) that connects to computers. Recommended graphic tablets are the Wacom Intuos and Wacom Intuos Pro (any size). (Wacom is the industry standard, but other brands are acceptable.) Recommended screen tablets include Wacom Cintiq, Huion Kamvas Pro, and XP-Pen Artist. iPads cannot currently be used on their own for this course, but iPad users can use Sidecar or Astropad to convert the iPad into a screen tablet that can be used with your computer to run desktop software.
