OntarioLearn description: In this course students learn keyboarding techniques using various methods. Keyboarding speed and accuracy are emphasized. Proofreading and editing documents is covered. Research about repetitive stress injury (RSI) and proper ergonomics is included. The student should be able to achieve a minimum speed of 25 net words per minute (nwpm) with 5 or fewer errors with frequent practice.

This is an OntarioLearn online course delivered via the OntarioLearn Portal. Teacher support will be available via email, and technical support will be available via phone.

Course Essentials:

You must have the software asset management (SAM) software that is included with the textbook. The supported browsers for the SAM software include the following (other browsers and versions than those listed might also work but are not supported):

  • Windows: Chrome (version 65 or later), Firefox (version 58 or later), Internet Explorer 11 (Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 only; compatibility mode is not supported) and Microsoft Edge 16
  • macOS or OS X: Chrome (version 65 or later), Firefox (version 58 or later) and Safari (version 11 or later)
  • iOS: Safari (version 10 or later) but only the SAM Study Center is supported and 2016 Tasks might not work in portrait mode on an iPad
