The Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) offers the Fire Alarm Technician training program. According to the CFAA, the Fire Alarm Technician training program was "created to provide training in the specialized area of fire alarm systems, thereby increasing the knowledge level of persons directly or indirectly involved in the fire alarm industry."

Individuals who complete the five required courses (Fire Alarm System Overview, Verbal and Written Communications, Basic Electricity for the Fire Alarm Technician, Life Safety Systems Electronics, and Fire Alarm System Application) and the work experience requirement and the CFAA registration theory exam and the CFAA registration practical exam are eligible to become Registered Fire Alarm Technicians with the CFAA. The CFAA awards Fire Alarm Technician accreditation. However, George Brown College Continuing Education has been recognized by the CFAA as a provider of courses that are equivalent to the Fire Alarm Technician training program’s academic course requirements.
