    Our Part 9 - The House - Health and Safety course deals with examination of plans and inspection of health and safety aspects of the house as found in the Ontario Building Code. Topics covered include fire safety and protection; chimneys, fireplaces, inserts and solid-fuel-burning appliances; stairs; guards; insulation; health and comfort requirements; party walls; and final interior and exterior inspections.     • This version of the course is held during the day at an off-site Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) location. We also offer an in-class version of the course and an online version of the course.
    • This is an overview/refresher course for experienced practitioners. The Building Code exams related to this course are offered by Humber College on behalf of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs (MMA). Exam information is found on the MMA website.
    • You must bring a copy of the 2012 Building Code Compendium to the first class. The compendium is available for purchase at the George Brown College bookstore (either on campus or online) and at the ServiceOntario Publications website. The Part 9: The House – Health and Safety technical manual will be provided during the first class and is included in the cost of this course.

    You must have completed BLDG 9244 Part 9 - The House - Health and Safety/BLDG 9264 Part 9 - The House - Health and Safety/BLDG 9289 Part 9 - The House - Health and Safety (Daytime) or an approved equivalent.
