    Our Part 3 Large Buildings Classification and Construction course focuses on large building classification and construction as outlined within Division B, Part 3 of the Ontario Building Code. Topics covered include separation of major occupancies; building area and height; streets, building size and construction; occupant load; fire separations and fire-resistance ratings; firewalls; closures; fire stopping; provisions for firefighting; and mezzanines and interconnected floor spaces.     Course Essentials:

    You must bring a copy of the 2012 Building Code Compendium and the Part 3: Large Buildings: Classification and Construction technical manual to the first class. The compendium and manual are both available for purchase at the George Brown College bookstore (either on campus or online). You must have your confirmation of registration to purchase the Part 3: Large Buildings: Classification and Construction technical manual from our bookstore. The compendium can also be purchased at the ServiceOntario Publications website.

    Prerequisite(s)

    You must have a general understanding of the building construction process and basic blueprint reading skills. If you are pursuing our Construction Superintendent Certificate, you must have completed BLDG 9245 Part 9 The House Building Envelope or BLDG 9265 Part 9 The House Building Envelope.
