    Distance Learning Online OntarioLearn

    OntarioLearn description: In this course students will explore internet mapping foundations, principles, and design. Students will integrate data into consumable web maps that empower end users to make better decisions and manipulate code to benefit their internet map product. We will explore implementation of systems from developing web services, handling data, and producing visually interesting map products. The topics we will study are Web Servers, Web Map Services, Hosting Data, Processing Data, web programming languages, conveying a story with an internet map, and empowering end users with analysis tools.

    Technical/Computer Requirements:

    Refer to the basic technology requirements for OntarioLearn online courses, but note that, even though the ArcGIS and Mapbox software used in this course will run in Windows and Linux operating systems, all instructions and tutorials are for the Windows environment.

    Prerequisite(s)

    You must have completed COMP 9518 Introduction to Geographic Information Systems. (An approved equivalent is also acceptable.)
