• Fire Protection - 2012 BLDG 9262

    Exam Preparation Online

    Understand the Ontario Building Code requirements that are applicable to fire protection. In addition to an overview of all fire protection requirements contained within the Building Code, our Fire Protection - 2012 course focuses on Division B (Parts 1, 3, 6, 9 and 11) of the Code as well as Supplementary Standards SB-2, SB-3 and SB-4. This course is intended mainly for inspectors whose duties relate to plans, review or inspection regarding fire suppression, fire detection firefighting and fire safety, or for fire chiefs who have been appointed as inspectors under Division C, Sentence 1.3.4.1. (1) of the Code. It will also be useful to others who wish to prepare for the Fire Protection exam.

    Note(s)

    • This course should not be confused with our BLDG 9239 Part 3 - Fire Protection course, which offers in-depth training on non-combustible construction, closures, continuity of fire separations and firewalls, spatial separation and exposure protection.
    • This is an overview/refresher course for experienced practitioners. The Building Code exam for this course is offered by Humber College on behalf of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs (MMA). Exam information is found on the MMA website.
    • This is an online course. Please ensure you are familiar with the basic technology requirements for online courses.
    • You must have a copy of the 2012 Building Code Compendium before you begin this course. The compendium is available for purchase at the George Brown College bookstore (either on campus or online) or at the ServiceOntario Publications website.

    Prerequisite(s)

    You must have general knowledge of the building construction process.
