George Brown Teaming Up with Sidewalk Labs Email to a Friend The college and Sidewalk Labs to explore community programming for Toronto’s waterfrontWaterfront Toronto announced in October that it’s moving forward with a partnership with Sidewalk Labs (a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company) to redevelop our city’s eastern waterfront. The goal is to refresh the area using a range of forward-thinking technologies – think sustainable materials, heated pavement and self-driving cars. On November 28, 2019, George Brown College and Sidewalk Labs announced that they would work together to realize a vision for innovative community programming. The areas for potential collaboration with George Brown are currently public engagement and research, guest lecturing, building digital literacy skills, a community kitchen (for both social gatherings and community training) and public workshops.
